How to Search the Basalt Court Docket
For Basalt Code and local traffic matters, start with the town's Municipal Court information page. The CivicPlus calendar is the other stop. The calendar posts public session dates. Party names are missing, though. So are a case-level register of actions and filed documents. Hold onto the ticket. The court, code, date, and citation number printed there tell you where the docket search goes next.
- Read the citation and identify Basalt Code, a Colorado statute, or an automated speed notice.
- For a municipal matter, open Basalt's court calendar and narrow the date range or keyword.
- Use the calendar view to confirm a session, then call the Town Clerk's office for case-level details.
- For a state-law matter, determine whether the event occurred in the Pitkin or Eagle County part of Basalt.
- Confirm the setting with the clerk named on the notice before appearing or paying.
Need a person instead of a webpage? Call Basalt Town Hall at 970-927-4701. State matters on the Pitkin side go through Pitkin court channels. No event appears on the calendar? Check with the clerk rather than assuming the charge vanished.
The Basalt calendar can be searched with past events enabled too. That helps pin down the date of an older monthly session. It still will not show whether a summons ended, moved, or produced an order. When you need an actual Basalt case result, ask the clerk for the municipal record. Give the citation number. If the notice cites Colorado law, take the search to the right county docket instead.
Searching Basalt's Court Calendar
Think of the Basalt municipal court calendar as an event tool. It narrows municipal session listings by date and search terms, switches between list and calendar views, and can export or print an event. It is not built as a party-name docket database.
What the town publishes is event-level only. A charge, plea, order, or outcome still has to come from the municipal clerk's case record.
| Control | Use | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Start and End Date | Narrow the event period | Does not search a case history |
| Search terms | Filter calendar event text | Not a verified party-name field |
| Show Past Events | Include older town calendar entries | Older events may not reflect a later reset |
| Select a Calendar | Choose Municipal Court | Other town calendars are not court dockets |
| List, Week, Month | Change display format | View choice does not add case fields |
The Basalt Municipal Court
The Basalt Town Clerk's office runs Municipal Court. It operates out of Town Hall at 101 Midland Avenue. Call 970-927-4701, or fax 970-927-4703. Court convenes the second Friday of each month at 8 a.m. Its docket covers town ordinance and municipal traffic cases.
The Town of Basalt official site lists Town Hall contacts. It also leads visitors to the court and calendar services.
Use that town route directly, since the state docket will not hold every Basalt municipal citation.
Two Basalt State Court Routes
Basalt straddles Pitkin and Eagle counties. That split creates a docket problem most towns never face. A state-law citation written in the Pitkin portion routes through Pitkin County. It lands in Colorado's 9th Judicial District. An Eagle County state matter goes to the 5th Judicial District instead. Either way, a Basalt Code citation stays in Basalt Municipal Court.
| Charge and Place | Docket Custodian | First Check |
|---|---|---|
| Basalt Code citation | Basalt Municipal Court | Town calendar and clerk |
| State law, Pitkin side | Pitkin County courts | Colorado docket filtered to Pitkin |
| State law, Eagle side | Eagle County courts | 5th District court channel |
When picking a route, trust the issuing agency, the violation code, and the location. Do not rely on any mailing address. Searching only the Pitkin docket can miss an Eagle-side state citation.
One Basalt street address can therefore be a poor search clue. Read the statute and the county or court named on the paper. For a Pitkin-side state setting, Colorado's free docket calendar filters by Pitkin County and date. For an Eagle-side matter, use the matching 5th District source. Neither state route substitutes for the Basalt Town Clerk on a town-code case.
Basalt Court Dates and Settings
Basalt's regular municipal session falls on the second Friday of the month at 8 a.m. The CivicPlus event gives the public session date. Case-specific times and appearance instructions come from the citation, the current notice, or the Town Clerk's office. Remember that a calendar listing can change. It does not replace an order in a particular case.
| Date | The second-Friday session date shown on the current town calendar. |
|---|---|
| Time | The regular municipal court begins at 8 a.m.; follow a specific notice if it differs. |
| Courtroom | Basalt Town Hall at 101 Midland Avenue, subject to current court direction. |
| Judge | The presiding officer assigned to that municipal session. |
| Setting Type | The citation or clerk identifies the appearance, hearing, or other proceeding. |
Note: the calendar is only an event schedule. For a reset, a cancellation, or any case-level question, use the municipal clerk.
Basalt Citation Counts Since 2020
Official town data show Basalt citations climbing from 433 in 2020 to 808 in 2023 and 949 in 2024. The 2024 total breaks into 363 penalty assessments, 264 parking matters, and 322 summonses. Those are citations, not convictions. They are not a count of open court cases either. An incident may also follow a route the town calendar never exposes at party level.
That growth is exactly why the issuing authority matters. Citation type should be read before any search too. The total mixes categories with different payment and court paths.
The 949 figure also bundles unlike events together. A penalty assessment may travel a different path than a summons. A parking matter may use another town channel entirely. Basalt's calendar publishes court sessions, not a row for each citation. The numbers give local context. But they cannot tell you whether one named matter is pending or resolved.
Basalt Traffic Tickets
A ticket written under a Basalt town ordinance belongs to Basalt Municipal Court. A Colorado state-law ticket follows county lines instead. Check the ticket itself for the printed court and the appearance or payment date; those control. The town calendar offers no case-level citation lookup. So the citation number plus a call to the clerk is the practical docket search. Paying can resolve the charge. Contesting it means following the hearing route on the notice. Automated-speed rules do not govern every summons, either. For the state side, the Pitkin County traffic court records route covers the Colorado docket. It also explains how to pay.
Basalt Automated Speed Notices
Basalt authorized four Highway 82 automated vehicle identification corridors in 2026. A 30-day warning period came first. After that, police-verified notices go out by first-class mail. Each civil infraction runs $40, adds no points, and never reaches DMV. Payment is due within 45 days under the program terms. The planned online match takes a violation number and license plate. Paid violations drop off the portal. So an empty result may simply mean the fine was paid, not that a record went missing. The town marks the online payment, hearing, and affidavit links "Coming Soon." Until those work, Town Hall help is the published fallback. The program line at 855-430-6429 is another. Basalt says a police officer verifies every notice before mailing. The program is civil, separate from an ordinary municipal traffic summons. Keep the mailed notice, since it holds the violation number the portal will need. Anyone wanting a hearing should follow the notice route by the deadline. Do not wait for the town calendar to show a party name.
Do not miss the notice date. An unpaid Basalt camera matter can become a final liability order and may proceed to debt collection.
Where Basalt Cases End Up
Basalt ordinance and city traffic cases stay in the town court. A Pitkin-side state misdemeanor or traffic charge goes to Pitkin County Court. Felonies and major civil cases from the Pitkin side land in Pitkin District Court. Eagle-side state cases sit outside that chain. They use Eagle County's 5th District route instead.
Docket flow: Basalt Municipal Court › Pitkin County Court › Pitkin District Court
That flow covers Pitkin-side cases only. A transfer or appeal can spawn a second case number. When a record mentions a transfer, search the originating Basalt file and the receiving court. The Pitkin County court docket page lays out the county search steps. Those steps cover cases belonging to the 9th District.
When a Basalt Notice Disappears
The forthcoming automated-speed portal is built so paid cases vanish from view. A court register works differently. It keeps entries even after a case closes. Save the notice number and payment confirmation. Keep any hearing request as well, before treating the portal as proof of what happened. An unpaid notice that will not match needs a second look. Confirm the violation number and plate, digit for digit. Then call the program line or Town Hall. A missing municipal summons on the town calendar calls for the Town Clerk. A state citation goes through the proper county route. These separate checks keep a portal gap from being mistaken for dismissal.
Requesting a Basalt Court Record
Start ordinance and municipal traffic requests with the Basalt Town Clerk's office. Give the case or citation number. Add the named person or entity, the rough date, and the exact item wanted. A calendar event is not a register of actions. It is not a filed order or a certified court record. Ask the clerk which form and copy process fits. State-court documents come only from the county court holding the case. On the Pitkin side, use the Colorado Record/Document Request Form. Or contact the Pitkin Clerk of Court. An Eagle-side matter goes to that county's clerk. The Basalt municipal clerk cannot certify either state court's file. Before sending a broad request, pin down what you need: a court date, a municipal case history, a filed order, or proof of payment. The Basalt calendar answers only the first, at a general session level. For a state case, a free Colorado calendar result gives the case number. But the register of actions and documents come through the state record channels. Copy every class letter and digit exactly.
Public Access to Basalt Court Records
Basalt court sessions and town calendar events are public. Not every case file is posted online, though. The municipal clerk holds the Basalt records. Colorado Judicial Branch rules govern Pitkin and Eagle state-court files. Protected, restricted, suppressed, sealed, and juvenile material may need redaction, proof of status, or a court order.
Key Rules:
Chief Justice Directive 05-01 sets access and exclusion rules for Colorado state-court records.
C.R.S. §§ 24-72-301 through 309 govern Colorado criminal justice record inspection and custodian decisions.
C.R.S. § 19-1-301 and following provide a separate framework for juvenile records.
For a reliable setting, disposition, or certified copy, use the clerk that holds the original Basalt record.
